MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte (Philippines)–Finally, Southern Leyte has something unique to offer for its tourists.
Officially known as ZIP SOUTHERN LEYTE, the zipline in Agas-agas is one of the four tourist attractions readied by the provincial government of So. Leyte thru Gov. Damian Mercado in partnership with So. Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SLLCI) and its President, Engr. Robert Castañares.

Officially known as ZIP SOUTHERN LEYTE, the zipline in Agas-agas is one of the four tourist attractions readied by the provincial government of So. Leyte thru Gov. Damian Mercado in partnership with So. Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SLLCI) and its President, Engr. Robert Castañares.
Engr. Castañares said the zipline “is the longest, highest and fastest zipline in the Visayas today”.
"The Agas-Agas Zipline is about one kilometer long and 30 storeys high from the base of the bridge,” he said.
The zipline is now ready for operation. It had its soft opening last April 15, 2011.

The Zipline is located at the village of Kahupian, Sogod, Southern Leyte, around two-hour ride from Tacloban city airport.
The regular fee is two hundred eighty pesos per ride.
Other facilities for extreme sports to follow in Agas-agas bridge are the cable car, bungee jump and ATV (all terrain vehicle).

A provincial Pavillion is also being constructed to house the visitors. These additional facilities will be ready for operation come July 1, 2011, during the 51st anniversary of the province.
Meanwhile, Engr. Castañares said that the province is seriously pushing its tourism agenda, believing also that tourism is a promising industry as long as it is carefully planned and well-executed.
It was learned from Engr. Castañares that the Zipline is just one of the three “man-made” tourism attractions which will eventually turned turn the province into “The Playground of Eastern Visayas" .

The major tourism attractions which are now undergoing development in the province are the Canopy Walk in Silago, Zoo and Theme Park in Danao Forest Park in Maasin city, and dive sites in Napantao Marine Sanctuary, in Napantao, San Francisco.

ReplyDelete@ Anonymous: If you're in Tacloban city, just go to Abucay Bus terminal, look for vans that ply to Southern Leyte via Sogod. Surely, the van will pass Agas-Agas bridge (location of Zip Southern Leyte). It's about 2-hour ride from Tacloban to Agas-Agas. Fare is around 170 pesos.
ReplyDeleteFYI: KUTING REEF now offers a special zipline rate of Php250 per ride for group packages from Leyte/Samar. The regular rate rate is Php280. We also give an incentive of Php20 per ride for the organizer provided they buy their tickets directly from KUTING REEF.
